Ramakrishna Mission Viveknanda University invites application for the following courses


Admissions
The Department of Mathematics at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University runs two programmes:
1 )MSc      2) PhD
PhD INTERVIEW FOR 2013:         TBA.
Admission norms and guidelines for both programmes are as follows.
MSc Programme

EligibilityBSc(Hons) in Mathematics/Physics/Statistics or BMath/BStat/BE/BTech to be completed by the end of the academic year in which the student appears for the examination. Students who have secured 50% or more (in honours subjects) till the end of their penultimate year of undergraduate studies may appear for the written examination.

Issue of Application Forms

Application forms are available for download or can be collected from the University office in person, starting four months before the date of the entrance examination, during office hours between 10 am to 5 pm.

Submission of Application Form

Application forms, along with necessary certificates, can be submitted (along with attested copies of marksheets and certificates) either by post or in person during office hours at the University office, together with a non-refundable fee of Rs.200/-. If the application form is sent by mail, a Demand Draft for the requisite amount should be made out  in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University. Affix an attested passport size photograph in the apllication form. The applications should reach the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University office at least one week before the date of the entrance examination.
The Admit Card with the attested photograph must be retained by the candidate for the entrance examination and brought to the hall during the examination. Do not  mail admit card with the application form.

The next admission test for MSc will be for the 2013-15 session.

Students who have qualified for NBHM MSc Fellowships may appear for the interview directly. They should submit the applicaton form with a copy of the NBHM
result attached.

PhD Programme

We are currently admitting students for our PhD programme every year. Students are admitted on the basis of an interview held usually in March or April of each year.
Eligibility MSc in Mathematics.  Students who have secured 60% or more till the end of their penultimate year of masters' level studies may appear. Students should also have qualified at one of the following national level written examinations:
  • National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM)
  • CSIR-NET Junior Research Fellowship
Exceptional students from other disciplines and/or exceptional undergraduates in Mathematics may also be considered, exclusively at the discretion of the Department faculty.

B.Sc. with Honours/Major in Physics with at least 60% marks in the Physics from any university approved by UGC
Entrance Examination
The entrance examination will be held on Saturday, 9 March
2013 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Main Campus of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University at Belur Math,
Howrah 711202. Candidates will be examined in the following topics in Physics: classical, quantum and statistical mechanics, mathematical methods and Electrodynamics. The
pattern of questions: short type to test conceptual clarity and/
or simple problems.
Based on the performance in the written test, candidates will
be called for an interview at a later date. List of candidates
selected for the M.Sc. programme in Physics will be put up
on the university website http://phy.rkmvu.ac.in/ in due time.
Issue of Application forms
Application forms can be collected from the University office in person up to 20 February 2013 during the office hours
(from 10 am to 5 pm). Applications may also be downloaded
from the University website:  http://phy.rkmvu.ac.in. Photocopies of the application form are acceptable.
Application form completed in all respects should be submitted: either in person at the University Office together with a
fee of Rs 300/- in cash or by demand draft in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University during office
hours (from 10 am to 5 pm) on or before 28 February 2013
or by post with a fee of Rs 300/- by demand draft in favour

NEET EXAM 2013

Pursuant to the Notification published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 21st December, 2010, the Medical Council of India with the approval of the Central Government amended the regulations on Graduate Medical Education 1997 and made provision for a Single Eligibility cum Entrance Examination, namely, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS Course in each academic year.

The Dental Council of India also amended the BDS Course Regulations 2007 and notified in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 31st May, 2012 that admission to BDS Course in each academic year shall be through National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India have notified that the Central Board of Secondary Education shall be the organization to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses.

Accordingly, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses in the academic session 2013-14 on Sunday, the 5th May 2013.

The responsibility of the CBSE is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing merit list to the Counselling Authorities.
